The Watersheds Program - Cumberland Basin Council
To facilitate these local watershed organizations working together towards cleaner water and coordinating their efforts, the Compact created a forum for watershed representatives to enhance their communication, education and problem solving skills. Because each watershed is different, and each watershed group is different, we feel that each of the groups can learn from each other's experiences and expertise. Serving to foster communication and networking between watershed groups, the Cumberland Basin Council also encourages the groups to help their sister organizations by contracting with them or writing them into new grants.
For more information on our activities read the Summer 2007 Newsletter (.pdf format).

Know what the major Cumberland River pollutant is? Well, it is the DIRT and
the other "stuff" from our yards, our roofs and our driveways that runs off
every time we have a good rain.
If we all kept our dirt in our own yards, the river would be a lot healthier
and safer for everyone.
Visit the Sediment page to learn more about Muddy Waters and what YOU can do
to keep your dirt at home.
