The Watersheds Program - South Fork Watershed Association
Mission Statement: The South Fork Watershed Association works to enhance sustainable and health water resources in the South Fork Cumberland Watershed through education, organizing community efforts and encouraging research and studies on potential risks to the watershed.
Description: The majority of the South Fork Watershed is located in Tennessee (72%) and drains 1350 square miles. There are 1,906 stream miles in the watershed and 5 lake acres. Logging, abandoned coalmines, small farms and some oil wells characterize this watershed. The watershed also contains five National and State wildlife areas, including Big South Fork National River and Recreation Area, Pickett State Park and Forest, Daniel Boone National Forest, Royal Blue Wildlife Management Area and Scott State Forest. The area is home to over 200 plants and 20 animal species at risk.

Know what the major Cumberland River pollutant is? Well, it is the DIRT and
the other "stuff" from our yards, our roofs and our driveways that runs off
every time we have a good rain.
If we all kept our dirt in our own yards, the river would be a lot healthier
and safer for everyone.
Visit the Sediment page to learn more about Muddy Waters and what YOU can do
to keep your dirt at home.
